 The outer sides of the cylindrical cap are commonly knurled. The cap can be situated either above the surface or recessed into a counter-bored hole. Ideal for precision assembly work as well as applications which require a neat, finished appearance, standard socket head cap screws offer a clean look along with maximum strength. Standard head caps are crafted from alloy steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy and silicon bronze. Available finishes include black oxide, zinc and plain while the majority of the standard fasteners conform to ASME B18.3, DIN 912 or Din 912/ISO 4762 specifications. 

Thread-locking fluid, or threadlockers is a type of adhesive that is applied to the external or internal threads of fasteners, such as bolts, nuts, lockwashers, and screws to prevent loosening, leakage, and corrosion. Threadlockers are used in a wide range of industries, from automotive and aerospace, to manufacturing and construction, where fasteners are prone to vibration or highly corrosive environments.

There are 2 main types of threadlockers currently available: inert threadlockers and reactive threadlockers. Also known as prevailing torque, inert threadlocking creates a secure fastening lock, which is resistant to vibration and shock related slippage. Reactive threadlockers are comprised of a chemical bond which is formed from the adhesive, preventing slippage from shock and vibration while helping to seal fastening points against gas and liquid leakage.
